Rare All Original Monterey Classic Decorated Chest With Brass Studs

  

We are offering a very rare and unusual Monterey Classic Period decorated floor chest embellished with iron and brass studs and copper tacks along with the characteristic iron strapping and handles. Hand crafted by Mason Manufacturing of Los Angeles, CA in the early 1930's and clearly marked with an impressed horseshoe. We feel that this chest is an early one-of-a-kind custom made item, and it has been lovingly cared for as you can see - the condition is all original and exceptional.

We obtained it directly out of an estate where it has been since it was originally acquired eighty-some years ago. It measures 30" long x 16" deep and is 16 tall.

Retains all original hand painted decorative finish and metal hardware with a nice overall soft and even patina. There is a faint ring and a couple of tiny spots to the top surface.

There are a few short tight age lines - barely worth mentioning but for accuracy's sake. Very solid and sturdy, lid has no unevenness or warping, opens and closes with ease.
